Tŷ Elis Counselling
We are committed to providing a free counselling service to anyone within our community who is 18 years of age and over. There is no assessment or triage required to receive our support. If you feel that counselling would be helpful to you all you need to do is contact us on the phone number provided or email office@ty.elis.org.uk and one of our team will talk you through our process and take your details to add you to our waiting list.
You will be asked about how you would like to receive your counselling; face to face at our Porthcawl site, via the telephone or on a digital platform such as Zoom or Teams.
We will also ask when you prefer to have your counselling such as daytime or evening as we can provide you with support up to 8pm on a Monday or Thursday. Once we know how you would like to be supported we will allocate you to a counsellor who can meet your needs.
We offer up to 10 weeks of free counselling. If there is a need to extend beyond the 10 weeks this can be reviewed with the clinical team.
This is a free, safe and confidential service. As we offer this as a free service our waiting times can be quite long so we ask all clients to make every effort to attend their sessions and to let us or their counsellor know if they are unable to attend their booked session. Non- attendance can effect the waiting times for others to receive their support.
Some of the topics that our clients have wanted help with are:
- Anxiety/panic attacks
- Depression
- Stress
- Separation and loss
- Family violence
- Disability
- Anger
- Health
- Sexuality/identity
- Trauma
- Substance misuse
We treat every individual according to their needs so this list is not exhaustive. If we are unable to support you because you may require more specialised services our counsellors and clinical team will assist you to access that support.
All our counsellors are volunteers, qualified or in their final year of qualification and have a DBS check and are members of a professional body such as the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), UK Counselling and Psychotherapy (UKCP) and National Counselling and Psychotherapy (NCPS).

What some of our counselling clients have said about the support that they received from Tŷ Elis.
I am feeling a lot better having been able to have counselling. I cannot thank my counsellor enough for being there for me, she is an excellent counsellor and I would recommend her to anyone. I never thought I would feel so different having counselling.
This service has been a lifeline for me and I cannot rate it highly enough. My counsellor has been very welcoming and put me at ease from our first session. I have had the space and support that I desperately needed so thank you very much I am so very grateful.
Fantastic Service!!
It has been wonderful with no barriers. Easy to access. You put an envelope around me and really cared. You made me think and feel more positively about myself and life in general. I had not accessed counselling before and you were so understanding. A very good experience, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Tŷ Elis.
I am so pleased in the change of my wellbeing and positive attitude, I cannot believe the difference in myself and I know how this positive attitude is going to reflect on my family’s life. I can only say thank you.
The service and support given to me during these sessions have been incredible and have made a huge change to my outlook for the future.
